New promotion - Portalban

Portalban is a village on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, the largest lake in Switzerland, with beaches, harbours and a campsite. With its feet in the water, the village will appeal to young and old alike for its tranquillity, greenery and wide range of activities. Its geographical location, in the Broye district, means that it is easily accessible by road, rail and boat.
Following the 2005 merger, the municipality is now known as Delley-Portalban. Delley-Portalban is located in the canton of Fribourg, bordering the canton of Vaud, and is home to around 1,250 year-round residents. Rich in cultural complementarities, it offers a peaceful escape with nature walks, a wide range of aquatic activities and a chance to discover sailing. The lakes of Neuchâtel, Murten and Biel are accessible daily between 1 May and 30 September.
A little history: after 100,000 years of glaciation, in 5000 BC, the Lacustrians settled on the shores of the lakes, particularly between Portalban and Cudrefin. Stilts are still visible in the reed beds to the east of the central port. These were the first fishermen! In 80 AD, a Roman garrison settled in Vallon, the commune bordering Portalban, where you can visit Roman ruins and a museum. The lake and ‘Les Pêcheurs’ are inseparable elements of life in Portalban.
