A star of glass and metal façades moves to Bex

Good news on the employment front. Between now and 2026, 65 new jobs are expected to be created.

Based in Collombey (VS), Acomet, a company that has built up a reputation in Switzerland and Europe over its 50 years in business, is moving to a new site not far from the Bellerin railway station.

‘New jobs coming to the municipality are always a positive thing,’ says Alberto Cherubini, mayor of Bex.

If this had been football, you could have said that FC Commune de Bex had just pulled off a very fine coup on the transfer market. After some twenty-six months of negotiations, the City of Salt has just secured the addition to its workforce of Acomet SA, one of the stars of the Swiss market in the field of ‘integrated glass/metal or solar façades and large sliding or retractable bay windows’ - to quote its exact CV. The company also enjoys a good reputation in Europe.

Acomet, which has been in business since 1974, was previously based in Collombey and will be joined on the Bellerin site by Axama SA, which is active in the production of metro doors, with contracts in Paris, Sydney and Dubai. With a total of some 65 employees, Acomet will be ‘one of Bellerin's leading companies in the industrial sector’, according to Alberto Cherubini, the town's mayor.

The municipality of Bex ‘is very interested in the arrival of Acomet,’ continues the councillor. We hope that this arrival will help to revitalise our industrial estate. New jobs coming to the municipality is always a positive thing. Especially as we're dealing here with an innovative, serious company with an excellent reputation and an interesting philosophy in terms of business management.

A deed of sale has been signed for a surface area of some 10,000 square metres, with a right of pre-emption for a further 5,000 square metres. The company will relocate to Route de l'Aérodrome, close to the station, next to the plot occupied by Febex. ‘The proximity of the station was important to us and our employees,’ says Fabian Egli, “and the site is well located,” adds the Bellerin mayor, adding that Chablais Région and the Vaud Cantonal Department for the Promotion of the Economy and Innovation were involved in the discussions, as the land is located on a strategic site for the development of activities in the Aigle-Bex region.

Construction is due to start in 2025, with the buildings due to open in 2026.
