Aigle
The municipality of Aigle, located in the district of Aigle in Switzerland, is a charming village surrounded by mountains and vineyards. Nestling in the heart of the canton of Vaud, it lies at the crossroads of the roads leading to the Vaud and Valais Alps. With a population of around 10,000, Aigle combines rural charm with urban dynamism.
Its landmark, the Château d'Aigle, is a medieval building dating back to the 12th century that proudly dominates the surrounding vineyards. The castle, which now houses the Musée de la Vigne et du Vin, bears witness to the region's important wine-growing tradition, particularly with the Chablais AOC wines produced on its hillsides.
Aigle's mild, sunny climate favours vine-growing, while its geographical position makes the town an ideal base for exploring the nearby mountains and ski resorts such as Leysin and Les Diablerets.
Aigle is also well served by transport infrastructure, with a railway station linking Lausanne, Montreux and other Swiss destinations. The town offers a pleasant living environment, combining historical heritage, cultural activities and access to nature.
Its dynamism is also evident in the diversity of events it organises, such as traditional markets, festivals and sporting events, making Aigle a popular destination for both locals and visitors who enjoy nature and heritage.
